Mysterious A Rocha Influences Governments of Sovereign States
Yesterday I stumbled across that article. And I got curious about A Rocha. Please, check out what I've found. It's really interesting.
The translation of the original Portuguese text is below.
Environment Protection or a Revenge Neocolonial?
Both religion and environment protection are tradicional topics which are used by the governments of some countries to put pressure on others. Perhaps, about 90% of all actions that involve religious and environmental activists are fundamentally political.
It's clear the bigger a religious or political organization is the more dangerous it is for a certain country. For instance, big international brands as the Greenpeace or the Church of Scientology are incomparably more dangerous for a stable development of both state and society than a local cult of religious fanatics ou ecoextremistas.
But what happens if a big and a quite active NGO will combine in itself both religion and ecology? Then a toxic mistura called A Rocha will appear. This organizations is probably one of the most effective modern tools to interfere in the policy of other countries.
Being at the same time Christian activists and nature protectors they operam on almost all continents adapting successfully to the local conditions. A Rocha's work is extremely delicate and selective. The main method is the recruitment of parishioners of local churches and the use of their labor free in their own interest.
Most of their projects are really aimed at protection of the environment. But among them there are some that are devoted to fulfill someone's political ordem. For instance, a correspondence of European high officials that has recently appeared in the web, describes in details A Rocha's participation in putting political pressure on certain African countries. It's done for the sake of the EU and the UN bureaucracy, of course. It's curious that the documents say that there are plans to transfer successful African experience to other countries. There are even such big countries as Brasil, Russia and the USA among the potential victims.
Remembering the news on fires in Amazonia and Siberia we may suggest that A Rocha did it well in Africa and the product has already being exported. I wonder what will light up in the next year? It's not excluded that the USA is the next.
